Geraint Meurig Vaughan Watkins was born in Abertridr, South Wales in 1951 and during his long career he has played with many of the great names in music. Yet to many people he bafflingly remains a well-kept secret. Perhaps it's because Geraint Watkins has such an individual style that's hard to define.

After attending Portsmouth Art College Geraint Watkins began playing with a number of noted bands including Buck Dancer, Juice on the Loose, and Red Beans & Rice. He followed this with session and live work for Dave Edmunds and Shakin' Stevens.
His piano and accordion playing has been heard gracing the recordings of Rory Gallagher, Andy Fairweather Low, Sting, George Harrison, Tom Jones, Status Quo, Eric Clapton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Paul Young, Nick Lowe, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Carl Perkins, and the Stray Cats to name just a few. Geraint Watkins was on the first Rhythm King album, but 2006 was the first year he could tour with the band.

Geraint Watkins played on the five albums by the infamous Balham Alligators, which helped to keep alive the music of Louisiana alive in Britain. Geraint Watkins has released a number of solo albums including, Dial W for Watkins, which captures his finest solo work and plenty of collaborations with his mates, including Nick Lowe on bass and harmony vocals.
One song - Only a Rose - from this album was recently featured on Bob Dylan's critically acclaimed radio show. He has recently released his fourth solo album, Watkins in a Bad Mood.
