Bill Wyman has metal detected a number of rare gold and silver coins while out metal detecting, including a Edward III gold half noble from around the 1360s, and a rare silver groat-sized coin of Pope Innocent VIII from 1484-92. And now you can view some of Bill Wyman's more rarer coins in a new metal detecting finds photos gallery that has been added to the site.

The metal detecting photos feature three coins, with both the obverse and reverse of the coin faces shown. The metal detecting finds include:

1361-63 - Edward III Gold Half Noble coin found metal detecting
Bill Wyman says: 'When I found this in a local field near Gedding and sent it to the archaeologists in Bury St Edmunds for recording, they told me that in 1361-3 (which is the date of this coin), that this coin would have paid for a man at arms to protect you... for a year!'

1721 - King John V Portugese Gold Half Moidore (2000 Reis)
Bill says: 'This coin was found in the same field as the Gold Edward III Half Noble - but it's Portugese.'

1484-92 - Silver Papal Coin
Bill says: 'This is what's called a Papal Coin (The Pope). It is a silver groat-sized coin of Pope Innocent VIII and dates from 1484-92. On the obverses side can be seen St Paul (S PAVLVS) and St Peter (PETRVS). It's a pretty rare coin.'
