Blog » Bill’s blog – July 12-16, 2010
Saturday 21st August 2010
The World Cup may well have been over, but Bill is an avid sports fan – with summer also means cricket, with Bill watching the third one-day match on TV between England and Bangladesh, where England achieved a whopping 300 runs on Monday, July 12. With Bill happy that England eventually won by around 140 runs to take the series 2-1, he turned his attention to his catalogue of CDs and DVDs of the Rolling Stones and Bill Wyman. He worked on the catalogue throughout the evening, pausing only to watch a few natural history documentaries (Bill is a keen nature photographer) as he worked.

Tuesday, and Bill got up to continue his marathon cataloguing session throughout the morning, before leaving with Suzanne to head to Metro Imaging for a demonstration. Bill chatted with Metro Imaging boss Chris Jackson and also Tommy Reeves, who looks after Bill’s archive, as well as looked over lots of examples of black-and-white and colour printing. Bill and Suzanne then had lunch at what Bill says was a somewhat bizarre café that also sold knick-knacks, before heading home to work on his cataloguing of his Rolling Stones and Bill Wyman CDs and DVDs.

Cataloguing was the order of the day for Wednesday, with Bill spending the day working through the 2008 inventory of his memorabilia at Sticky Fingers, before calling it a day at watching the Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman film The Book Of Eli.

Thursday, and cricket was on the agenda – though in a somewhat different way with Bill taking more of an active role in the commentating stakes. Bill was picked up just before lunch and whisked off to Lords Cricket Ground for the international Test Match between Pakistan and Australia. Once arrived, Bill headed to the BBC Sport box, meeting up with Jim Maxwell of Australian ABC Cricket Broadcasting, as well as chatting to former England cricketer Phil Tufnell and former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell. Bill the did a lengthy interview for BBC Radio Sport, discussing cricket sports stories, as well as recalling some Rolling Stones stories.

After lunch, Bill headed back to the BBC Sport box, where Bill did a lengthy interview with David Gower, and Bill’s hat-trick at the Oval was also played. From there, to the Sky Sports box, where Bill joined up with cricketing legends including Bob Willis, Michael Holding, Shane Warne, Ramiz Raja, and others, with Bill also taking photos. Bill made it back home later in the afternoon to work on his photos, then watched a movie before turning in.

Friday, and in the afternoon Bill met up with Caroline from the Ripple office, then with Caroline de Wolfe who arrived with film actor Leslie Phillips. Together, they all sat down and discussed Monday’s up-coming filming with Stephen Fry and the subjects that they could chat about on camera.
