Tuesday 22nd June 2010
Taking a break between concerts and tours, Bill spend a few days from May 19 resting at home, listening to music on iTunes and updating his diary. Bill’s friend Douglas Morden called and popped around on Wednesday, May 19, then Terry Taylor also turned up in the afternoon, before Bill called it a night. On Thursday, Bill got up and checked email before meeting with Ian Gerenfell – Mick Hucknell’s manager – with Bill shooting a short film for Mick Hucknell’s 50th birthday celebrations, which are going to be held on June 5.

Friday was a quiet day for Bill – just kicking it back and taking it easy, and on Saturday, Bill noticed an article on the web site of Cote D’Azure, headed Events on the French Riviera: Stone Alone In Saint-Paul – Exhibition Of Photos By Bill Wyman.

COTE D’AZURE (Internet 22.5.10) said: “Bill Wyman became interested in photography very early but his thrilling life with the Rolling Stones did not leave him much time to practise any art forms apart from music. During his 30-year career with the group, he travelled with his camera slung over his shoulder, exploring the art of photography. All these shots now make up an album of his life on the rock scene. His portraits of the other Rolling Stones, The Who, John Lee Hooker, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, EIton John and BB King as well as ingenuously intimate ones of the artists Chagall, Arman, Cesar, are representative of this unique collection.

“Up to now, Bill has amassed nearly 20,000 photos – ninety four are displayed in the exhibition. Mostly in colour, many have not previously been published and are backed up by items from personal archives. Bill's photos capture their subjects in natural situations and are the perfect counterpoint to the large body of illustrations which have appeared in magazines all over the world since the beginning of his career.”

Bill was up early on Saturday, and worked through the morning on selecting the soundtrack music he’d created to go to the Saint Paul de Vence exhibition, making up a CD of music. Bill also spent the afternoon scanning items for his archive, and working through business matters.

Sunday, and Bill’s thoughts turned to the up-coming Spanish tour, and he spent some time packing his hanging wardrobe with all his stage clothes for the tour. Bill also sorted through his scans and diary updates, sending content through for the billwyman.com website.

Monday, May 24, and Bill woke to the news that the Rolling Stones re-release of the album Exile On Main St had reached number one in the UK and US charts. Bill spent the day working, as well as listening to music on iTunes. On Tuesday, Bill’s clothes for the tour were picked up, as well as other luggage, and Bill spent time working on his computer, stopping to watch the friendly match between England and Mexico, which England won (unconvincingly, says Bill) 3-1.

Wednesday, and Bill was picked up by car, along with his daughter Katie and both attended the exclusive preview of the new exhibition The Deep at the Natural History Museum. Bill chatted to Anneka Rice when he arrived, then walked around the exhibition and chatted to various scientists who were involved in the project. Bill says they both spent lots of time peering through microscopes.
