Saturday 20th March 2010
Bill had been staying in Gedding to spend time working on his projects, but the beginning of March saw Bill up early and begin the trip back to London, battling heavy traffic to arrive in the early afternoon.
With Bill back in London, Bill spent much of Tuesday, March 2, working on emails and sending material to friends and business people. Lunch was a needed break, and Bill went by taxi to a restaurant in Battersea to help celebrate Alan Dunn’s 70th birthday. After then returning and working on projects, Bill left at 7pm to pick up his daughter Katie from her dance class in Chelsea, then on to attend the Ronald Searle Exhibition at the Cartoon Museum near the British Museum. Bill says that the place was really busy, but it was a very engaging exhibition. Katie spent some time drawing, then afterwards they left and went to the Ivy Restaurant for a light dinner. Bill also spent some time chatting with Ricky Gervais.
Bill woke on Wednesday and flagged an article in The Times headed Bailey’s Pick Of Bailey, which had 12 black-and-white individual Stones photos across a two-page article.
In the article David Bailey (Times 3.3.10) said: “This contact sheet was done one day at my house. All these things were lying around in my house and the guys all picked up bits and pieces. Some people described it as being a bit influenced by Dada, maybe these days it would be called conceptual; but I just call it mucking around. They were all mates, these guys. They were all nice. I always liked them, even Ronnie Wood. They were understated. They didn't insist on fancy clothes or make up or hair styling. They just came round to my place in Primrose Hill and picked things up from around the house. It was just a bit of fun. Not many people would have thought of putting a light bulb in their month like that. This contact sheet was lost for years. It had been misfiled, and it resurfaced only recently.”

Bill spent the day working, updating his diary, and spoke briefly on the phone to Charlie Watts. In the evening, Bill watched the live international friendly between Egypt and England, with England winning 3-1.
The next two days – Thursday and Friday – saw Bill back to working on his projects, sending emails and working on business matters.
