Monday 26th October 2009
For many, Sunday is usually a day of rest – but not so for ex-Rolling Stone Bill Wyman. Having gotten up early (and spotted a mention of Suzanne in a Sunday Times Article about Jerry Hall), Bill updated his diary and began packing for Wednesday’s trip to Holland and Belgium. By lunchtime, Bill was done and just in time for Terry to pick up Bill and dash over to the Rhythm Kings rehearsal, joined by Broady, Geraint, Frank, Nick and Beverley.
A good afternoon with friends and music, with the Rhythm Kings rehearsing the Gary US Bonds songs for the Rhythm Kings UK tour, and then running through songs by Frank, Geraint, Terry and Beverley. Later, at home Bill had a light dinner thanks to Suzanne, downloaded email, and watch the film Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Bill’s verdict: well over-the-top violence.

Monday, and after watching the news and sorting out his luggage, Bill headed back to rehearsal with Terry at lunchtime. Again, the Rhythm Kings went through the Gary US Bonds songs for the tour, and also ran through the new songs by Frank, Geraint, Terry and Beverley.
With the rehearsal wrapped up and Bill happy, Bill then spent some reflective time working through his photo archive in the evening, before calling it a night ready for tomorrow’s trip.

A quiet day on Tuesday, then Bill was up and off to St Pancras early in the morning to travel by Eurostar with Brussels. Bill says he thought that he’d booked first class, but a series of disasters including badly organized food made him think again. Bill had to settle for a pre-packed sandwich – something he reckons he could have picked up in Tesco.
A late arrival didn’t help, but soon Bill was on route to Rotterdam, arriving just after 5pm to be greeted by a nice driver in a white Cadillac, who drive Bill and Terry on to Zoetermeer. Bill says the journey rocked – literally; the driver played early Elvis Presley Sun tracks during the journey, which Bill appreciated.

With Bill settled into the Golden Tulip Inn, Bill headed for dinner – and was joined by Eddie Floyd (Bill snapped a photo, shown above) and who had flown in from the US that morning. Dinner, wine and conversation were – needless to say – good.
