Tuesday 20th October 2009
With some early business correspondence, email and other work completed by lunch, Bill jumped into the car and drove to Gedding on Thursday, arriving in the evening and launching straight into working on his photo archive. In the evening, Bill took a short break to do a 30-minute phone interview with Kyle McCurry of WNGZ-FM 104.9 Radio in New York about Paul Rogers to celebrate his 60th birthday. Then, a quick spot of football on the TV before Bill called it a night.

After again spending the morning on business issues, Bill was free in the afternoon on Friday, October 2, to head off for some metal detecting in Rushbrooke thanks also to the partial sun keep the day pleasant. Bill found a few items, including a 13th Century Beehive thimble, a Tudor buckle (15th/16th Century), a Boy Bishop Token (1480-1540), a cut token, a 17th Century cut coin, a Medieval circular brooch (13th/15th Century), a Georgian shoe buckle (1720-90), and a range of other bits and pieces. Bill says that he also found a piece of a Medieval quern with a grooved decoration.

The next day Bill gave over to working on his photo archive, pausing to watch the football scores as they came through on the TV. Football was firmly on the agenda on Sunday, too, with a thriller of a match between Arsenal and Blackburn, which went 6-2 to Arsenal. Bill says the game was great, with the best performance by a player in a match this season in the shape of Fabrigas, who Bill says was brilliant.

By Tuesday, October 6, it was time for Bill to pack up and head back to London, driving through rain and arriving just before lunch. Bill worked on his business demands in the afternoon, before heading out with Suzanne in the evening for dinner at the flat of Jose and Dick Kries, and was joined by many friends including Angie Rutherford and Nick Cook.
