Saturday 31st January 2009
Book projects, radio and media interviews, and gearing up for the January and February 2009 Rhythm Kings tour – Bill gets busy, then hits the road with Terry (pictured) and heads to Hengelo…
Bill kicked off Thursday, January 15, with an intense session working on his book project – as soon as we can bring you details, we will – and then had a project meeting, before returning to working on the book throughout the day (finally getting to bed in the wee small hours).
Friday and Bill had to but the project on hold for the morning, instead heading to Sticky Fingers for a raft of media interviews. During a busy hour, Bill did an interview with Holger Petersen for Canada’s CBC Radio One program Saturday Night Blues, for the CKUA Network radio show Natch'l Blues, Canada's 24 hr blues channel Blues Time on the Galaxie Network, and would also be published in Penguin Eggs Magazine, Canada.
Afterwards, Bill returned back to working on the book project throughout the evening – and then was up at the astonishingly early hour of 4am to continue working on it. Around lunchtime, Terry arrived and both him and Bill headed to the Rhythm Kings tour rehearsal, which Bill said went well. When Bill returned home, he sorted out his stage clothes, packed, and then returned to working on the book.
On Sunday, January 18, Bill was picked up just before 1pm by Terry and headed to a second rehearsal, battling traffic all the way – Bill also took several hanging wardrobes to go on the van to Holland, before heading back home.
Monday morning, and Bill and Terry prepared for the trip to Holland. First, Bill worked through Lana Topham’s photos of the Rhythm Kings in rehearsals (you can see more of Lana’s photos by clicking here), before driving to to St Pancreas to catch the Eurostar train – Bill also took a photo of Terry on the train (pictured) – en route to Brussels in Belgium. Bill used the trip to catch up with reading the book Scott Joplin And The Ragtime Era.
After arriving and come comedy moments trying to locate a toilet on the station (Bill’s advice: don’t) both he and Terry drove to Hengelo, arriving at the Eden Star Hotel. Next stop, the start of the tour…
