On Saturday, Bill spotted an article in the Daily Telegraph that reported that Jerry Lee Lewis was hoping to team up with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on his new album. The interview, which Jerry reckoned he had known the Stones since they were kids, was a tad inaccurate, reckoned Bill.
He's sure that Jerry never met any of the Stones until the 1980s - himself having been a crazy Jerry Lee Lewis fan when he joined the Stones in 1962. Bill says he previously saw Jerry Lee Lewis in London in the 1950s, and it wasn't until the 1970s that Keith really came to appreciate Jerry's music. Bill also appeared in the Telegraph under the headline 'Never Too Late For Play School, Pop'.
On Sunday Bill was up his usual early self - but thanks to the clocks going back an hour, it turned into an extra-early start. Bill spent the day working with bouts of watching football.
Monday, and Bill got up to a cold day and continued to work. He did talk about his smoking. Bill says that he's really pleased with progress: down from around 35 per day in August to just seven, and even with those he isn't inhaling.
"I'm finding it easier each day and I'm missing it less and less," Bill says.
Bill headed back to London on Tuesday, navigating some heavy traffic. A quick pitstop, then Bill and Suzanne went out to Michael Winner and Geraldine's (pictured) engagement party at the William Kent House at the Ritz Hotel. Other guests included Michael and Shakira Caine, Chris Rea and his wife, Lesley and Evie Bricusse, Michael and Mary Parkinson, Terry O’Neill and Lorraine, Andrew Neal, David and Carena Frost, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others. Bill spent a lot of time chatting to Michael Parkinson, then listening to some amusing speeches from Michael Caine, Michael Winner and others.
The next three days were a typical mix of paperwork, business issues and a cracking game between Arsenal and Tottenham. Suzanne and the girls were also in a suitably Halloween spirit, decorating the house.
