Sunday 29th June 2008
With Shoe the seagull chick safely handed over to the animal sanctuary (see Bill's blog by clicking here), Thursday saw Bill head back to London and handle some business projects during the afternoon. He also made a few copies of some footage he shot of Shoe the seagull - you can view that by clicking here - before settling down to watch the Euro 2008 quarter final match between Portugal and Germany.
Bill was up early on Friday, June 20, plugging into his music collection on iTunes and going through his business files - then the rest of the day was all about people and friends. Bill chatted with Tony Panico about an up-coming gig, and spoke to David English on the phone about Bill's interview in The Times (you can read it by clicking here). Ian Lafrenais and Doris arrived to spend a few days staying with Bill, with Ian's partner and co-writer Dick Clements coming over for dinner.
Saturday, and today Ronnie's daughter Leah Wood is getting married to Jack MacDonald at Southwark Cathedral. But, before Bill heads off to the wedding, he spent the morning reviewing a Rhythm Kings concert at the AVO Session in Basel, which Bill is considering putting out as a special edition DVD.
In the afternoon, Bill, Suzanne and the girls are picked up by a car to go to the wedding, with Bill meeting up with the likes of Michael Cohl, Ian McLagan, Patti Richards, Mick Jagger, Lisa Fisher and Peter Asher, among others. Bill says the service was great, with a fantastic spiritual solo by Lisa Fisher at the end of the wedding service.
In the evening, Bill and family headed to Ronnie and Jo Wood's house in Kensington for the reception, which also saw the likes of Keith Richards, Kate Moss, Tracy Emin and Keith Richards attend. Bill had a great time, rounding up his girls just before midnight and heading home.
The next day, the wedding was splashed all over the Sunday papers, including the Mail on Sunday, Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Times. In the evening, Bill went out to help celebrate Peter Asher's birthday - Bill gave his a Chagall book as a present - then came home and watched a recording of the Spain-Italy match, with Spain winning on penalties.
On Monday, June 23, Bill planned up-coming Rhythm Kings shows, and worked on a schedule for press interviews to promote the up-coming UK shows in July.
