Thursday 3rd July 2008
A full day of media calls has been scheduled for Bill on Tuesday, with the first starting at 11:00 with a recorded phone interview with Stewart Dennis for Radio Hampshire to promote the Rhythm Kings show in Southampton on July 12. You can find out about Bill's up-coming shows by clicking here.
The interviews continued, with a short piece for the Liverpool Echo, a lengthy 25-minute phone interview for the Southern Daily Echo, an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield and a live spot on the Charlie Cocker Show on BBC Radio Solent. Bill was also slightly surprised at an out-of-the-blue request for an interview with BBC Radio Leeds celebrating 40 years of the station, which he talked about his memories and experiences of 1968.
With the roster of interviews finished, Bill headed out to Battersea Park to attend Matilda's sports day, and Jessie presented 'The Wyman Cup', which Bill had awarded the school last year.
Wednesday wasn't much different as Bill continued his media blitz, including interviews with the Huddersfield Examiner, the Liverpool Daily Post, and BBC Radio Merseyside. It was Rhythm Kings tour manager Tony Panico's birthday!
Working with the media pays dividends, and Bill found to his surprise on Thursday, June 26, when former Stones chauffeur and tour manager Mike Corsey (back in 1964/5) sent through an interview Bill had done for the Times in Australia a while back.
Friday, and Bill sees that Ronnie Wood has embraced online auction site eBay, according to an email from Richard Havers - but Ronnie's art didn't manage to clock up the required auction bid. Interestingly, Bill says that Ronnie trained at London's Ealing Art College before his music career took off.
On Saturday, June 28, Bill and Suzanne headed out with the girls to attend Jessie's school founders day, which featured a sky diving event (Bill took some photos, one is shown right), then headed back in time to catch the movie Independence Day, which is a favourite of Jessie - though Bill dryly noted that it was probably the seventh time he has sat through this particular alien invasion.
